Fading summer
The weather is changing very rapidly and I have this photo of the mountain in beautiful clear sunny skies.

I usually avoid adding any detail that has the horrid squiggles of paint, but the orange rail and rusty marks are such interesting reminders of the impermanence of the built environment with the magnificent mountain holding its own in the background.
Anyway, the wild winds last night tore down power poles and snapped off trees and shrubs - luckily none in my yard - so the winter months are well on the way and some very different views of the mountain.

Arriving in Hobart from the airport means that you first encounter a view of the mountain on a sweeping curve. Notorious for accidents, this is not the place to stop and take photos, so a car snap is about the best one can do! It is a wonderful sight at the end of the day to suddenly have this majestic mounatin in view with the colours of the sunset. We were a bit early for that this time with the sun just starting to make its decentĀ - maybe next time!
No commentsMountain in shadow
The weather is starting to change with the evenings getting cooler and days not reaching high temperatures, which is kind of nice as we have had a really good summer.

Anyway, the change in weather means a gathering of cloud about the mountain again, which is always quite beautiful.
No commentsDover
On the way to Hastings Cave yesterday we had a brief leg stretch at Dover.

This harbour looks to be very sheltered and the seagulls seem to think its pretty good too! The sign says it is a private jetty, and I guess the gulls own it…

This beautiful beach still has crystal clear water and little development around it. How wonderful!

Mount Wellington is somewhere in the distance and a long way from here! The onshore breeze made kayaking too diificult quite quickly, but we still had time for a paddle about the bay.

Taking the dogs for a walk in the evening is one of my favourite ways to wind down from the day.

This track in Lenah Valley winds up the Newtown Rivulet to the base of Mount Wellington and is popular at all times of the day. The dogs love it too! Especially when they spot the rabbits lazing about in the shrubs.

A recent trip to Eaglehawk Neck on the Tasman Peninsula meant a few quiet moments on the beach. The energy of the ocean streaming over the rocks and pummeling at the cracks is hard to capture in a photograph. But I did try!

Swimming at this beach is great fun at times with some nice waves coming in regular sets. I think this is where I would like a little escape from the city life…. ha!

I have deleted the old mountain blog… Sad in some ways, but with a large number of images it was getting to be a bit of a bloated toad fish! So now I will be postingĀ to a specific number of post, rather than an ever increasing number. Much more host friendly!
